I am now a Blogging Brochacho. Some say, "what is a brochacho?" I say it is like a brother that is as nice to have around as some fresh nachos. Yeah yeah yeah I know I have had more than 4 years of Spanish. I know what muchacho means, but nachos are just a funner way of getting the point across. I am a teacher, so I naturally like to find fun ways of saying things to keep it interesting. This sort of trick works well when you have a student with their head on the desk. Say something interesting and they listen! One could also talk a about sensing something in other ways than just sound.
For example, I had an interesting encounter with a yellow fanged k-9 that had teeth that looked like this... (while holding your fingers under your lips). The dog was totally rabid because it foamed at the mouth and smelled like a.... (pause a little and see what they come up with then and in) junk yard obviously. As it lunged forward to claim my shoe as his own, I offered my other shoe as a close alternative. Maybe I presented that shoe a little fast, but I feel he forgave me as he gave me a friendly yelp while flying across the yard. I did feel quite accomplished as I did this danielson kick that only a highly trained ninja could execute as precisely as I did that day.
Now the next trick is to find a way to relate this to a moral story. Usually I let the students come up with something, but I always can come up with some random way of doing it also. For example, many of us have fears in our lives that seem bigger than what they are, but when we put our feet in motion, we can annihilate those fears with confidence. Moral of the story: action takes away fear. What is the first step you need to take to punt the nasty fears out of your life? What ever it is, just do it.
